Main characters:
The main characters in this book are: Flaed, she is the main character in the book, and she is going to be king of her country. Dunsten, to be the husband of Flaed. Flaed’s dad is the king. Asser is her brother, and they grow farther apart throughout the book. Red is the protector of Flaed.
Main conflict:
The main plot is Flaed trying to escape Red for fun, not marrying Dunsten, and Becoming queen.

3. Becomes one of the best queens to rule sexton, and is based on a true story.
Quotes:
- “Our prisoners are Danish.” During this time period, the country she was in was at war with the Danish.
- “At the center is God I think.” Religion is still very prominent in this time.
- “With a loud cracking sound the lead wagon lurched to one side.” This also shows the time period, and if she had been in a secure location, then she would have not been taken, and the story would have been completely different.
- Flaed becomes queen.
- Flaed leads sexton to many successful battles.
- This entire book about being kidnapped and eventually becoming queen, and it is based on a true story.
Overall success:
This book is overall an action-packed adventure of a queen who gets kidnapped twice by the same group that kidnapped her in the first place, but eventually became queen and led the sextons to many victorious battles against the Danish.
