Quotes
"Simon faced a future of divided happiness, knowing too much of both English umbrage and Norman self-importance to feel at home in either camp." - This is important because this is what a lot of people went through back then.
“A king was designated by God to be his right hand in the world.” - This is important because this is what everyone believed this is exactly what a king was for.
“It was considered bad luck to share bad news without invoking a saint, or without asking for Heaven's help.” - This is important because everyone’s lives were surrounded by their religion and this is what everyone believed so when something bad happened, they had to pray to God and then give the bad news.

Historical Events
1. King William II dies from hunting accident in the New Forest. - This is significant because this is what the book is all about and this could have been the start of the new ideas of government that came around.
2.     Henry I becomes king of England. - This is significant because He changed the way England worked and it’s religion.
3.     Henry I married Matilda of Scotland, daughter of King Malcolm III of Scotland. - This is significant because this help England and Scotland get along better and become great associates.

Overall Success
The book was a good book overall; however the book was very slow in the beginning and it was kind of hard to get to know the characters because there was not much dialog. It was more of a descriptive book.

Author’s Facts

The book is entirely made of facts from the time period it takes place in.

Comments

  1. My book was a little bit different than yours. My main character is a girl and she falls in love with some one she isn't supposed to fall in love with. One thing that we do have in common is that our books were during the same time.

  2. This book report was also very in-depth and I also hate books with slow beginnings. My book was about a slightly different time-line
