Main Characters: Hope Walton
  • Hope Walton is a teenage girl who lost her mother due to a severe “Earthquake”. Hope Walton does not know it yet but she is the daughter of a time traveler.
Main Conflict:
  • The main conflict in this historical  Sci-Fi thriller is when  sixteen-year-old Hope Walton loses her mom to an earthquake overseas, her secluded world crumbles. Agreeing to spend the summer in Scotland, Hope discovers that her mother was more than a brilliant academic, but also a member of a secret society of time travelers. Trapped in the twelfth century in the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Hope has seventy-two hours to rescue her mother and get back to their own time. Along the way, her path collides with that of a mysterious boy who could be vital to her mission.

  • “The past is so interesting we just wanna keep on searching for more” This quote talks about how we as people don’t fully understand history but we love it and want to learn more that we can not stop searching for more.
  • “I was scared when Eleanor of Aquitaine was imprisoned because she could only be the one to release my mother from prison” In this quote it talks about Eleanor going into prison because she was accused of helping her son kill the King of England which at the time was her husband.
  • “I could not believe when I was trialed that they treated me with respect and not hatred even when I was not from France” In this quote Hope talks about how she was treated with respect when she was on trial, thats because Eleanor was all about a thing called courtly love meaning she did not believe she should make the people being trialed scared or feeling harmed in any way.
Historical perspective:
  • Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the most powerful and influential figures of the Middle Ages. Inheriting a vast estate at the age of 15 made her the most sought-after bride of her generation.
  • She would eventually become the queen of France, the queen of England and lead a crusade to the Holy Land.
  • Eleanor of Aquitaine is said to be responsible for the introduction of built-in fireplaces, first used when she renovated the palace of her first husband Louis in Paris.

  • Traveling extensively to those places where her novels are set, Janet often roams around at night to commune with the famous historical figures about which she loves to write.
  • The 2013 winner of the coveted Pitch Wars
  • She is a member of several writing organizations, including the SCBWI and the Historical Novel Society, and lives in a tiny town in Arkansas with her family and Dorda the dog

  1. Some similarities I see is they both have a setting set in Europe and is during the middle Ages. Some differences is my character is a grown man while the main character here is a teenager. Also, I have more than one main character.
